Award Recognizes Doug Ayers’ Lifetime of Service to Real Estate Industry

August 2012 – Chicagoland real estate brokerage Koenig & Strey Real Living proudly remembers Doug Ayers’ commitment to Realtors® and the real estate industry, as his legacy is honored with the North Shore Barrington Association of Realtors (NSBAR) Realtor of the Year Award for 2012.

The Realtor of the Year award is the highest honor bestowed by the Board, given to an owner or manager of an office who is a standard-bearer for the profession.  Commenting on the selection of Ayers, NSBAR President Terry Penza said, “Doug was committed to making things work better for the agents, consistently supporting the efforts of our board and working on the national executive committee.  He was the epitome of a real estate leader, and a high quality representative of the profession.  Our only regret is that we ran out of time, and were not able to give him this award when he was still with us.”

Ayers was the President and CEO of Koenig & Strey Real Living from 2007 until his death in 2011.  He began his real estate career in Minneapolis with Burnet Realty, rising through the ranks to lead Coldwell Banker’s Midwest operations.  Ayers was a tireless advocate, playing an advisory role for the NSBAR and also serving on the National Association of Realtors Large Broker Advisory Board and the NAR Presidential Advisory Group.

Koenig & Strey President & CEO Nancy Nagy commented, “It is a wonderful tribute to Doug and all that he worked so hard to achieve. He was devoted to the real estate industry and the agents and really respected the North Shore Barrington Board and what its people stood for.  Koenig & Strey was always proud to have Doug leading our company, and we are so gratified that he is being remembered through this award.”

The award will be presented at the annual NSBAR awards ceremony, to be held September 20th at Pete Miller’s in Wheeling.  Tickets to the event are available through the Board at nsbar.org or by calling 847.480.7177.
