Conversion at historic Headley School in Lincoln Park

The historic Headley School at 2107 N Magnolia in Lincoln Park

As school enrollments dipped across Chicago and suburbs during the 1970s and 1980s, some Chicago school districts were faced with the task of cutting costs, which ultimately lead to the consolidation of schools. Most of the victims were badly in need of renovation. Ever the opportunists, developers seized on the opportunity to get creative in some the city’s high-demand areas, converting newly vacant schools into residential living spaces.

One such renovation took place at one of Chicago’s oldest public school buildings – the historic Headley School, built in 1875.  Located at 2107 N Magnolia in the popular DePaul area of Lincoln Park, this renovated multi-level penthouse loft now represented by Monique Crossan of Koenig & Strey’s Gold Coast office is one of the units carved out of the former school.

Boasting approximately 2,600 square feet, Unit 3A features 2 bedrooms, 3 baths, sun room with skyline views, huge deck with 360 degree views, gym, office, wood-burning fireplace, soaring ceilings, skylights, in-unit laundry and a garage.  Truly a unique space.
