It’s not a sunk shot yet, but the pro golf world appears very close to confirming the PGA BMW Championship will have a new home in Chicagoland in 2013 – Conway Farms in Lake Forest. And if deemed successful, it could return in 2015. Conway Farms is a private, links-style golf course in Lake Forest whose membership includes Northwestern alum and one of this year’s top PGA earners, Luke Donald.
This Tom Fazio-designed course, poised to steal Cog Hill’s thunder, hosted the 2009 Western Amateur, and in preparation for the 2012 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship, fairways have been tightened, bunkers moved and run-off areas have been mowed. Word is that members are so motivated to host the 2013 BMW, they are willing to cut down trees — and eventually plant new ones — to create space for viewer and player hospitality.
Conway Farms is also a luxury home community featuring high-end homes on large lots surrounding the golf course. There are several opportunities to purchase in Conway Farms including these two notable homes listed with Koenig & Strey’s Lake Forest office.
645 Buckingham Court, listed by Karen Ueberwasser, is a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath one-level with an extensive kitchen, detailed millwork and a finished living suite in the basement.
1605 Broadland Lane is a Nantucket-style 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath home on the 4th fairway featuring Australian cypress wood floors and a Deguilo kitchen. The home is listed by Chip Dell.
