The Koenig & Strey Foundation was inspired by the late President of the company, Doug Ayers. Doug had a big heart and was fervent about his support in causes that were important to Koenig & Strey’s agents and the communities where their clients make their homes.
The Foundation is encouraging K&S agents and staff to come together and give back, through large-scale efforts and community outreach. The direction of the Foundation in 2012 is to work at raising seed money that will support major projects, while each branch office is selecting a local organization or cause to rally behind.
One of the first projects of 2012 will be support Elizabeth, the daughter of Mr. Ayers, in her support of the American Diabetes Association. Doug suffered most of his life from diabetes. Elizabeth, just 11 years old, is working to raise money to help send kids to the ADA Kids Camp.
Elizabeth told us that “Many children have to live with diabetes and these camps give them the opportunity to be in a safe environment with other peers going through the same health issues as they are. My dad, who became diabetic when he was 12 years old, attended a diabetes camp and talked about it with me.”
The Foundation is supporting Elizabeth’s efforts by matching donations from any agent or employee. If you’d like to help Elizabeth and the ADA, please use the form in the Foundation newsletter.
